It’s known to us all that baling twine is used in farming to bind straw and hay together into bales, whether in big or small square and big round bales. Besides, it can also be used in many rope applications. Actually, most baling twine used now is made with Polypropylene, steady and cheap. As a result, today T&H Packaging is going to introduce some features of polypropylene baling twine.

Traditionally natural fiber twine is a natural option for baling twine. But sisal twine can break easily when famers want more weight in their bales. it’s frustrating when the twine breaks in the machine as it’s wrapping the bales. So, a stronger twine is needed in the baling industry.

Polypropylene baling twine is now widely used in hay baling industry due to certain features of polypropylene.

First, PP (Polypropylene) is a very resistant material. Polypropylene is normally tough and flexible, which allows polypropylene to be used as an engineering plastic. So, when it comes with baling twine, PP twine can have knotting strength range from 130 LBS to 700 LBS, which allows famer to put enough weight in their hay bales, sometimes can even go up to 1000 kg without breaking any knots.

PP baling twine is also very low in weight, which makes it easy to handle and fit well in balers. It’s not like wire which is very heavy to carry around and might hurt someone during some wrong operation. After baling, there will not be much additional weight in the bales because of the twine, this is also a gaining point in the freight. After all, people are paying to transport the hay not the twine.

Besides, PP twine comes in different colors. Usually famers would like to use different colors to mark their hay, sometimes people will want to differentiate the hay from different paddock or the hay from different season. It will be really handy when there are blue, white, yellow and pink twine to choose from.

UV protection is also a major part of PP baling twine. Because sometimes hay bales will just sit in the open air under direct attack of sunlight. With enough UV protection in the PP twine, the hay bales can hold together in a good shape for a considerably long period of time.

Furthermore, PP material is very economical. The cost of baling twine is a very big part of the whole baling cost. Sisal twine is made from natural fiber, which has been wrapped around hay bales for decades. Unfortunately, the price of fiber has gone up over the past couple of years, so famer have been looking for ways to cut costs. PP baling twine can offer a better baling service with a better price, that’s why PP twine have become the mainstream of baling material.
